People are getting too used to being monitored for everything, we are too comfortable with the government being in our business.

Exactly. My concern is that once powers like this exist, they tend to grow quietly. Future governments might push for broader powers, and most Canadians won’t notice until it’s too late. Even limited access sets a precedent.
I agree, most Canadians won't notice the erosion of our freedoms until its too late.

I’d really like to hear more from privacy experts. If they conclude this law could enable mass surveillance or normalize easy access to personal data, that’s a warning everyone should take seriously.
I have a privacy phone from ABOVE

I also listen to Glenn Meder. He does alot of work for privacy in your electronics

Mass surveillance has been happening for years. The laws being passed are just making what has been done illegally in the past legal, and then pushing it from there.

I assume that the device has a lot of limitation regarding it's capabilities considering it probably encrypts all of your information.

I haven't noticed. I have extra steps to get information out of the sandbox (privacy side of the phone)

I think we forget the reality of how much we are getting tracked due to the fact that we have been slowly acclimated to this new climate of always having every app, website and device ask for more and more permissions to spy on our life. First it was with online messaging going from PM (Private messaging) to DM (Direct messaging), then with location permissions from every app, and then access to our browser and history. These companies all sell out all of our data because everyone is so money hungry and bought into this system of money being everything.

My credit Union did an upgrade on their ATM's. I could not continue to use online banking unless I agreed to facial recognition and fingerprinting...coming in the future. Are people understanding digital ID?

I agree with you Julie. Most people feel that things are back to "normal" after the pandemic but they certainly are not. The governments at all levels seem to be out to control us as citizens in any way that they possibly can. Any rights and freedoms that we give up or are taken away will not come back. I wonder what life will be like for our children and grandchildren. Will they live in a free and democratic society or in the New World Order that the Liberal Prime Minister has said that is coming or in Canada. We need to be aware of what that is now. I do not agree with Klaus Schwab when he stated from the World Economic Forum "By 2030 you will own nothing and you will be happy" This is their plan for the world.
