    Discussion Regional Chair Appointment

It's kind of crazy considering everything going on within our government that they keep just pushing these anti democracy policies into place.

Discussion The NDP have lost their way

There are definitely a lot of flaws in our system with first past the post, but I can't really think of a system that wouldn't leave groups of people unrepresented.

Discussion The NDP have lost their way

This is what I was saying in one of my earlier posts on the site, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the NDP lost their official party status because of lack of seats last election. And while I am not a supporter of the NDP party I do think that having more than 2 parties in Canada is...

Discussion Bill C-15 has passed: Now What?

A little off topic, but I always found it interesting how Carney went from the bank of England to Canadian politics. He went from uninvolved to Leader of the Liberal party in only 5 years. Always found that something to keep in the back of your mind.

Discussion Zoom link for Bill C-9

I've also heard a fair bit about this, I think the reasons they chose to implement this bill are very interesting even though almost no one wanted this passed. I might tune in if I have time.

Discussion Bill C-15 by Kellie Auld

I agree with the concern about the structure of a bill like this. Even if someone supports certain parts of it, bundling so many unrelated amendments together makes it difficult to properly evaluate each change. It creates a situation where people are not really voting on individual policies...

Discussion NCI: Are farmers safe in Canada

James added something really valuable too, especially with the groundwater contamination discussion. It felt concrete and measurable, and his perspective brought a lot of clarity to the hearing.

Discussion NCI: Are farmers safe in Canada

After watching a good chunk of the Day 1 hearing, I gotta say what really hit me was that the speakers feel like farmers are being squeezed from all sides. It wasn’t just one isolated issue, it’s like there’s this big shift in control over agriculture away from the people who actually do the work.

    Discussion WR Community Energy

Exactly. I also appreciated how they highlighted clean heat as a major opportunity. Often these discussions stay abstract, but giving a clear example like heating homes makes the transition feel more actionable.

    Discussion WR Community Energy

The energy transition discussion really stood out. I like that the city is thinking strategically about how to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels. It’s not just about saving money, it’s also about making the region more resilient and sustainable over the long term.

Discussion Are We Living in a Comfort Era

That’s fair, but I still think we are losing resilience. Even things like waiting, problem-solving, or dealing with boredom have become rare experiences. Those small challenges used to build patience and mental toughness over time.
  15. KameronM

Discussion Are We Living in a Comfort Era

I do think we are in a comfort era, and I think it comes with real consequences. When everything is accessible instantly, people lose patience and the ability to deal with discomfort. Even small inconveniences feel overwhelming because we are not used to struggling anymore.

    Discussion SpecialEvent: Waterloo Region

This is horrible to see happen, but the movie is a great way to honor his life. I do wonder though what did they end up putting as his cause of death, I know they lied about the actual Covid death number so I wouldn't be surprised if they lied about this too.

That’s where I think the real issue is, not some hidden master plan but systems designed to maximize attention

Discussion Federal Government going back to court

I saw this article come up onto my feed yesterday, and the thing is, it's not new news. Anyone who was remotely in the know during this event knows Canada acted unconstitutionally. They were afraid of the potential backlash they would receive if the masses of people understood what they were...

    Discussion Should Billionaires Exist?

I see what you mean more now, I agree we don't need more restrictions but instead we need people to be able to self regulate instead of the state. Don't think that can ever realistically happen but like you said it's nice to work towards.

Discussion Canadian Home Owner Defends Home

I agree but if the people are clearly a threat, i.e they are in your house on purpose, then I think we should be protecting home owners more than the criminals.

Discussion Canadian Home Owner Defends Home

Yeah I agree with this, because if you have a 5 foot 2 woman being charged by a 6 foot 3 man, is it reasonable force to discharge your weapon? But now what if its a 6 foot 3 man being charged by a 5 foot 2 woman (unlikely but for thought), is it still reasonable. Because in my opinion you don't...

Discussion Canadian Home Owner Defends Home

I think that's a bad argument in my opinion, because everyone locks their doors at night. If you end up in the wrong house when doors and windows are locked there is no excuse for it. I just think because usually home invasions happen at night with limited visibility, if a home owner is...

Discussion Has inclusivity gone to far?

Even if it’s temporary, it still sets a weird precedent. Like what happens when another group needs accommodation? Do we just keep restricting things?

Discussion Has inclusivity gone to far?

I think the bigger issue is just bad implementation. Like why not just offer a quiet room for students who are fasting instead of restricting everyone else? If they want to implement their traditions onto a school there should be a dedicated Muslims school. Schools don't stop class because of...

    Discussion Should Billionaires Exist?

    Discussion Planned Obsolescence

Maybe, but the problem is investors usually want growth. If customers only buy something once every decade, sales numbers drop hard. That’s probably why companies lean toward shorter product cycles. I had a Pixel book laptop that I have used for like 6+ years now and I got it after it had...

I swear every website now tries to make you create an account for the smallest things. You click on an article, try to download a file, or even just want to read comments, and suddenly there's a pop-up telling you to sign up before you can continue. Half the time I don’t even want to use the...

    Discussion Canada's Two Party Circus

Discussion Is It Ever Justified to Break the Law?

Yeah exactly. I think the key question is whether breaking the law is being done to help society improve or just to benefit the person doing it. That doesn’t make it simple, but it might be one way to start thinking about where the line should be.
  48. KameronM

Discussion Is It Ever Justified to Break the Law?

That’s true, but sometimes the legal system moves so slowly that people feel like breaking the law is the only way to force change. Peaceful protests sometimes involve breaking minor laws, like blocking roads or trespassing somewhere symbolic. Those actions can bring attention to issues that...

Discussion Is It Ever Justified to Break the Law?

I think there are definitely situations where breaking the law can be justified. Laws are written by governments, and governments aren’t perfect. History has plenty of examples where the law itself was the problem. If people always followed the law blindly, things like civil rights reforms...

Discussion Are Conspiracy Theories Harmless Fun or Dangerous?

Noah, I’d say you can enjoy conspiracies as long as you’re self-aware and grounded. The problem is when people start seeing patterns where none exist. That’s when harmless curiosity crosses over into risky behavior.
